curved wall under construction

The curved glass wall will be a striking feature of the new library

There’s a new library on the way! We are expecting that the new library in Annapolis Royal will open sometime in mid-October. While we do not yet have a firm opening date, we do know that it will be an exciting time for the residents of Annapolis Royal and surrounding area. The Friends of Annapolis Royal Library have been hard at work on this project! Their website features updates and news about the project, so head there for details. They also have a Facebook page and have been posting photos as the project moves along.

In other news, once the library opens in the new space at The Academy on Ritchie Street, we will have new hours. Again, we do not have the exact date when this will begin, but we hope the new hours will be more convenient for our customers!  Here they are:

Monday 10-5
Tuesday CLOSED
Wednesday 10-8
Thursday 10-8
Friday 10-5
Saturday 10-2
Sunday CLOSED

The new library will have some great features, such as a commons area with a fireplace, a curved glass wall with plenty of seating, a room for study and working, a bright children’s area, a teen area, and lots of space for books. We will also have a program room and the Academy Innovation Lab will be a community workshop, or ‘Maker Space’. We look forward to seeing you when the new library opens, and until then, you can still visit the Annapolis Royal branch in their current location on St. George Street.
