Why give to your public library?

Public libraries are much more than books. We offer programs for all ages, music, art, film, computers, magazines, a  place to sit and relax. Our libraries are the community’s living room, and we want you to feel at home. However, Provincial government funding for Nova Scotia’s public libraries has been stagnant for over 8 years. This means we rely on YOU to help us when we open a new library, when we want to offer more storytimes for kids, when we want to bring in music and authors.

We think library service is valuable and we strive to provide our communities with the best. Calculate the value of library service to you, and consider making a donation to help us keep our services at the highest quality possible.

Where does the money go?

You can choose where your donation goes. Online, you can choose a library that is currently fundraising. Or you can choose to give money for books, for programs, or to support the library in general, and let us choose where we need the funds most. Money has been donated to support programs, services, collections, and spaces. If you want to make a donation in honour of someone, we can do that, too.

Here are some recent examples of where donations have helped:

Book Club in A Bag

Summer Reading Club

Furnishings for the Berwick and Kentville libraries

Bridgetown Library expansion
