Baby Ruth Bars

You can sample these bars, made by Sue Mullen, at the Port Williams Library.

1 cup light corn syrup                                

1 cup creamy peanut butter

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

6 cups cornflakes cereal

1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips, divided

2/3 cups roasted peanuts

Grease 9×13 inch baking pan

In a large saucepan over medium heat,  combine corn syrup, peanut butter and sugars, stirring until smooth.  In a separate bowl, mix together cornflakes, 1 cup of the chocolate chips and the peanuts. Pour hot corn syrup mixture over the cornflakes mix. Stir until cornflakes are completely coated.  Press mixture into the greased baking pan and let cool, When bars are set, melt the  remaining ½ cup of chocolate chips and drizzle over the bars.  Let the chocolate set.

Makes 16 bars.

Fun and easy to make and kids love to help! They also love to eat the bars!
