September 1reptile book cover8 – 24 is Science Literacy Week in Canada. This week, we invite you to find a great science book at one of our libraries! Science Literacy Week highlights Canada’s outstanding scientists and science communicators from coast-to-coast. The goals are to showcase the excellence and diversity of Canadian science and to show how exciting science is. Be it as simple as a science-themed book display encouraging people to read something a little different to multi-day events, the week offers something for everyone. For one week in September, libraries, universities, museums and other partners put on a spectacular nationwide festival of science.

Here at AVRL, we have books on reptiles and sharks (look for 597 on the shelves), oceans, dinosaurs (head to 567), makerspaces & making, and outer space. Don’t forget DVDs. We have lots of science on video and you can immerse yourself in learning something new.  At the library you can find out about so much!

If you need some help with science homework, we’ve got you covered. Log on to tutor.com/avrl from 3 PM – midnight, and your library card gets you FREE online tutoring in any subject. Learn about the world around you. And science isn’t just for kids, you know. There’s science everywhere, and so many things you can find out about.Art of Tinerking book cover
