A big change is coming to Berwick! The new library will be located at 236 Commercial Street , in the same building as Town of Berwick offices. If all goes well, we are set to open in the new location on January 19. The library will be closed January 16, 17, and 18 in order to facilitate our move to the permanent location at the new branch. In addition to a new location in a new building, the library will also have new hours, effective January 19. The new hours are:

Tuesday  10:00 – 5:00
Wednesday 10:00 – 5:00
Thursday 12:00 – 8:00
Friday 12:00 – 8:00
Saturday 10:00 – 2:00
CLOSED Sunday and Monday

The new library has some features we know you are going to love, including a community living room, vibrant Children’s and Teen areas, and lots of space for sitting and enjoying your books and magazines. Of course there will be books, computers, and the friendly staff you are accustomed to seeing. The new library welcomes everyone and we hope you will come see this beautiful new space!

A big thanks goes to everyone who helped make this new library beautiful. The Town of Berwick has created a lovely space for the library, and the community has helped furnish it. The Friends of the Berwick & Area Library have been hard at work with fundraisers and getting the word out to the community.  Local businesses and service groups have stepped up and made donations. The Kings Mutual Insurance Company made a donation to furnish the Living Room.  We’ve had  a painting donated  for the living room, and the fireplace was donated by Country Stoves & Sunrooms.  Wheaton’s is helping us out with some of the tables and chairs you’ll see in the new space.  Home Hardware donated comfy chairs. Mary and Fred Walsh, local library lovers, made an extremely generous donation to furnish the Youth areas of the library.  We’ve had donations from the Lions Club, local dentists, CFUW, and a donation jar at the post office. The Wellness Initiative Fund will help us furnish the outdoor patio. We’ve had donations online, in person, and many hours of volunteer help. From coins spent at booksales to major sponsors, we thank you all. There’s still time to support the library: find out how here.  We know the community loves and supports the library, and we couldn’t make this space work without you. Visit the library and browse our donation wall to see the community members who supported us!
